Feeding recommendations

• Young (under 6 months), pregnant or lactating: free choice.
• Adults (over 6 months): small hamster — 1/8 cup per day; gerbil or large hamster — 1/3 cup per day.
• Hamsters often hide food: check their stores and adjust the daily ration.
• Although hay is not the basis of the hamster and gerbil diet, offer hay free choice for burrowing and hiding.
• Transition food over 4 weeks.
