Synopsis

  • Nico, a boy full of imagination, wakes up one night to a mysterious crash and magically sees before him some characters from the book he had started reading: Trovão, a gentle giant, Topo, an elf and Serafina, a female dragon. They tell him that he must go with them, as he has been called to save the Forest from the destruction caused by evil spirits, who threaten to devastate everything.
  • Though undecided and insecure, Nico decides to follow his new friends and embarks on an adventure full of dangers and hair-raising challenges. In the middle of the journey, he begins to realise that, somehow, he is part of the story he had barely started reading. Could it be possible?
  • Is he the hero the forest so badly needs?
  • Will he be able to overcome his fears and succeed?
  • This is a story about the importance of friendship, trust and true courage, that powerful strength we can find within ourselves.

About the author

Teresa Dangerfield was born in Lisbon in 1956. She holds a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures (Portuguese and English) from the Universidade Clássica de Lisboa and a master's in Translation from the University of Bristol (United Kingdom). She has lived in London for more than three decades, where she taught in the Portuguese Teaching Abroad programme and was a Pedagogical Support Teacher at the Coordination of Portuguese Teaching in the United Kingdom. She made her debut as an author in 2021 with the short story Até que os Sinos Dobrem, in the anthology Não Vão os Lobos Voltar, and in 2022 published the children's story Um aniversário com Tubarões, in the anthology Contos que contas tu, by Trinta por uma Linha. In June 2023 she launched the bilingual book A Ovelhinha Perdida / Baa Goes Missing and received 2nd Prize in the XXVIII edition of the Prémio Literário Hernâni Cidade.
